What is a chakra?
A chakra is an energetic center that unites physical, mental and emotional aspects together. We have 7 of them in our personal being and use them every day; these energy centers are felt in the body and influence the development of our emotional intelligence, our insight and our progression as spirited beings. For example, we feel our heart "open" when someone tells us something that brings out a sense of caring and joy; we feel our heart space "constrict" when feeling the break-up of relationship or the deeper emotions of anger, fear and sadness.

Why is understanding the chakras important for
Time Out For Balance?
The chakras can be used as a road map for personal growth, to help you along your journey, and to help you see things you might otherwise miss - much like a good map helps a traveler enjoy the trip as well as move toward the destination. Looking at the chakra chart helps to put a person's life journey into perspective.
What is meant by a "wisdom center"?
Each Time Out For Balance program, workshop or class is designed to enhance or deepen your understanding of one or more chakras - as we grow in personal awareness of what our life experiences mean, we gain not only knowledge about ourselves but also wisdom about life, about others, about our purpose and intention. A chakra is an inherent wisdom center - it takes your personal effort to gain its higher wisdom; it takes your willingness to experience your feelings, ask questions, and hear answers.
How do the 7 Points of Light relate to the Chakras?
The 7 Points of Light are the pivotal experiences in your life that shape your awareness and growth around each chakra. Although each person's set of life experiences are different, we all experience challenges and "turning points" that potentially help us move from a limited view of ourselves to a broader, more productive or more meaningful or peaceful view. In the chakra chart, the "-" Role and "+" Role refer to the archetypes of development; for example, you might be abandoned as a child but work your way beyond the survival issues to an understanding of or skill that demonstrates how to thrive. In this way, you move from victim to mother or teacher or steward. You learn to take care, to care for others, and yourself. Each chakra has an inherent turning point, a potential to live in greater awareness - and our life experiences trigger these turning points whether we are aware of them or not. To have a road map of your history, so you can see what is of value from these turning points and integrate this wisdom into your daily life and into your purpose, is the purpose of the 7 Points of Light Program.
