The Coaching Program
at Time Out for Balance
A fundamental aspect of life is change, which can feel difficult. If you grow tools that help you become more aware of choices, you empower yourself step by step to feel strong and well (and even surprise yourself by becoming more flexible and resilient even in the midst of change!)
At Time Out for Balance, we offer several kinds of coaching and training to help you reach your goals. Coaching helps you find choices in your future behaviors, choices that you might not be able to see on your own. As coaches we help you create the next steps to more supportive behaviors so that you can align your priorities with your intentions and "exercise your change muscle."
If you are trying to lose weight but have had difficulty doing so in the past, life coaching can help you sort out and strengthen the "why," and fitness coaching can sort out and strengthen the "how." If you are hungry emotionally and not aware of it, or don't have enough tools to deal with the emotional hunger, then your appetite, and your desire to support your weight loss program with healthy behaviors like regular exercise and portion control may also be out of alignment. If you want to start an exercise program but find yourself consistently giving in to other demands, you might benefit from some life coaching to reveal your deeper needs and heart's desires, so your exercise goals are given more priority.
We offer 3 unique yet interrelated coaching programs, which are often taught in a workshop or group setting but are also taught one-on-one or in couple or small group training. Seven Points of Light is the first Life Coaching program. It is based on the concept that we humans feel more empowered when we know WHY we do what we do - when we understand our present actions/choices based on our past education and experiences. Combining a broader sense of personal development (Eastern Wellness) with more modern perspective (Western Fitness and Behavioral Science), we can harness the power of our reviewed history into strength and wisdom, using the roadmap called the chakras or "7 points of light." Each chakra's wisdom is enhanced through the practice of a specific tool.
Core strength is so important for well-being that we offer a second wellness program, presented as a workshop called The Cornerstones of Ayurveda, and a companion book called Ayurvedic Balancing. Like a healthy tree needs strong roots and branches connected to a firm trunk, so a person needs to understand their "root" behavior and have good "core" awareness in place before giving wings to key hopes and desires. Ayurveda (pronounced "I - yur - VAY - duh") is Yoga's "sister science" and means science or knowledge of life. As yoga uses physical postures to quiet the body and so calm the mind for union with deeper connection to heart and mind, so Ayurveda asks us to create union with the four key aspects of core living: appetite/digestion, mind-body balance, deeper self-nurturing, and balanced goals that feed the spirit. Seven Points of Light gives essential information about this core practice and Ayurvedic Balancing continues the conversation.
Our third coaching program helps keep fitness goals in focus. Offered in a group setting or individually, Lose 2 Win "The Coach Approach© is a 13-week program that includes weekly talks/discussions plus a log book by NutriSum™ called Results Typical! – and this log book emphasizes daily exercise plus completing 5 simple behaviors each day relating to water/whole fruit/vegetable intake as well as habits around breakfast and snacking.
As those behaviors are assimilated into daily life, diet and exercise may become more refined. The program includes a binder with additional handouts and coaching materials, as well as 2 motivational emails each week, 30-minute group exercise session and a mid-week phone-call check-in with your coach-facilitator. We break the milestones of change into weekly successes so you stay on track! We'll give you a regular commitment that's FUN to keep! Additional Personal Fitness Training is also available.
